“First and foremost, I wish to thank each and every one who have served as a Council Member to the CMCF for the past several years and for those who have shared in our efforts and rejoiced in our achievements to make the CMCF as a relevant, important and effective self regulator of the electronic media, within the communications and multimedia industry.”
“Special and heartfelt thanks must be recorded to Prof Tony Lee who has helmed the CMCF since its inception at pro-tem level way back in 1999 until now. I am flattered and quite proud to have served on the Executive Committee of the CMCF under his leadership and have seen the CMCF develop to a full fledged organisation that takes its role as self regulators very seriously.”
“I am also very grateful that I have now been given an opportunity to carry on where he left off in making history of our own in helping the industry to develop in tandem with global standards and technology.”
“The CMCF remains relevant and important especially in light of the convergence era of media technology. The existence, efforts and achievements of the CMCF, arising from the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 is a clear endorsement of the ambition to bring about self-regulation within the electronic networked medium. This is done without disrupting both the fundamental liberty engendered by the usage of the medium and national policies that seek to harvest the potential of the medium for the benefit of our development.”
“While many roles and faces will be changing, our mission and message remain the same but hopefully continue to expand. The public channel of communications under the CMCF mirrors the democratic demands that the borderless world places on all of us as a pre-requisite, for the attainment of the key to knowledge economy that is stressed by our government. Towards this end, the CMCF will continue to regularly enter into dialogues with the industry and public representatives on issues pertaining to self-regulation to move our objectives along the path governed by national policies.”
“At this juncture, I would like to welcome the new appointees to the CMCF Council and just to say that we have literally just begun to scratch the surface in our efforts and look forward to many of the greatest challenges that are prevalent in this industry.”
“Lastly, I want to take this opportunity to thank again those who have served as Council Members of the previous terms, the Executive Director and his team, the Complaints Bureau Chairman and Committee, and the Secretaries who continue to work behind the scenes for their unselfish dedication for making the CMCF a highly important vehicle for self regulation in this industry.”
“Thank you.”
